President's Message
Gary Sohl, President
Well, we’re entering the month of February, the month of Presidents’ Birthdays (no, not mine, relaxyou don’t have to buy me anything) and while it may be the shortest of month it’s also one of the busiest for the Art League. First of all, bring your works of art depicting scenes from around town to the library on Wednesday, February 1st between 11:00 and 1:00 to enter in our “Scenes of Huntington Beach” show. I know many of our members have produced some great works of local places, and it will be fun to see them all at one time. There should also be many HB residents dropping by to see the show...so get your pieces entered. You’ll be allowed up to five entries. We're also going to invite visitors to the show to vote on their favorite worka Peoples’ choice Award as it were.
Then at our meeting on the evening of Wednesday, February 1st we will vote for Artist of the Year. Those members who won a first place or best-of-show at any of the 10 meetings in 2011 are encouraged to bring in one of their winners, and then we’ll all vote for our favorite. The voting will end at the end of the refreshment break, and we’ll tally the votes and announce the Artist of the Year at the end of the meeting. Then that person will get to take the Board out for lunch! (just kidding) But that person will have the honor of having their art on the 2012 Directory cover in living color.
We are also honored to have Tim Clark, nationally known watercolorist, as our demonstrator at the February meeting. Since there are three big reasons to be there on the night of the 1st, heck...I'll probably even show up.
