President's Message

It has recently come to the attention of the Art League that there is a controversy going on as to what exactly constitutes a water color painting.

The big national shows all have their own definitions. Some are very rigid, allowing only transparent watercolor on paper. Others are broadminded including acrylic, gouache, works on paper as well as Upo and canvas.

We are an Art League, which is basically a club for artists. Our mission is to encourage all of our members to work and display their work. We provide a forum for open dialogue between artists. Our categories, in monthly shows, are broad enough to encourage the artists to display their work and compete in their category for a ribbon. Let's have faith that the artist knows if he or she is using watercolor or acrylic and which category to put it in. Let's trust the judgment of our judges to make the expert decision in choosing winning work in the correct category.

Let's all enjoy the creative process of producing a work of art and sharing it with friends.
