President's Message - June 2010
by Carrol Ann Wolf, co-President
With this issue of Mixed Media we are half way through 2010. However, as a group, HBAL has accomplished a great many things this year. One of our main goals is to promote art and artists through education.
In May we gave four Art Supply Warehouse $150 Gift Certificates as awards to very deserving high school art students to help them pursue their careers. I'm certain that those of you who attended our meeting were impressed by the quality of the art these students brought to the meeting. Special thanks go to Jean Cohen for being our scholarship chairperson the past several years. HBAL also donated a $300 cash prize to a stellar Goldenwest College student. I was able to personally present this award at the ceremony held on their campus. These educational awards are possible due to your generous purchase to our monthly raffle tickets, and, of course, because of the raffle prizes donated by the guest artists and local merchants.
For our members and other artists, we have scheduled two workshops this year. The first, featuring Chris Sullivan, is being in held June. We are currently taking reservations for a collage workshop conducted by Jacki Long being held on Saturday, October 16. Since we do not meet in July or August, if you're interested in attending, please send your check to Kay Sullivan.
Our May open Show was a great success, and the quality of the art was superb. Thanks to all who participated, volunteered and visited.
