I look for the small, quiet moments in my photographs. I try to capture the beauty of the simple
things or places. I have traveled widely for many years but always find Italy, especially the
Umbrian region, my favorite place.
I have won many awards over the years, and my photographs and paintings are collected by people
around the country.
Italian Door
Most people would have passed by thie door in a hillside town in Umbria, Italy. But I was fascinated
by the textures and the contrasts to the wooden door to the craggy gray stone with the branching tree
limb gracing the photo. You have to look closely to see the hint of red water flowing down the center of
the street.
Pear
This lovely pear was clinging to an old tree in the courtyard of La Romita, an art school in Iitaly.
The light was perfect, and the shadow of the leaf perfectly defined against the pear. I visited the
courtyard last year and found the tree has been cut down and replaced with a flowering bush.
Italian Jars
Again, the collection of green/blue glass jugs was part of a courtyard in La Rjomita, an art school
in Umbria, Italy. These jugs have disappeared from the Italian landscape and can be found only in junk
yards. The have been replaced by bright plastic jugs. This photo has both reflection (I'm somewhere in
the reflection taking the picture) and transparency (see the flowers through the glass jugs.)
Venetian Reflections
Burano is a small fishing village on an island in the Venetian Lagoon. Each house is painted in a vivid
color. This picture was taken late in the afternoon and perfectly captures the warm sunlight and the
reflection of the buildings in the quiet canal.
